In short.

In detail we will talk about

Loofah is a plant belonging to the Cucurbitaceae family, also known as “sponge zucchini.”

In fact, the popularity of this plant comes from the zucchini it produces, these once ripe are dried and dehydrated, a process that leads them to become excellent vegetable and biodegradable sponges, great to use both for washing dishes and for cleaning our bodies.

Loofah is a very easy vegetable to grow, which in addition to being used for sponge production can also be eaten, although it is not very popular for this purpose, as it has a somewhat more bitter taste than classic zucchini.

From a nutraceutical point of view, however, the luffa fruit has many properties:

It is indeed rich in vitamins and minerals such as vitamin C, iron, magnesium and calcium that are useful for maintaining the overall health of our immune system.

It has few calories and is rich in fiber, which helps regulate our digestive system, as well as being a suitable food for different diets as it reduces appetite by promoting the feeling of satiety.

Its use as a skin care sponge has become very popular due mainly to its effective antioxidant properties, which help rid the body of the free radicals that cause aging and damage to our cells, but also because of its exfoliating properties, that is, it can restore shine, hydration and vitality to the driest of skins, which is why it is often used for facial and body cleansing.
